How a Horizontal Flow Pack Machine Works

A flow pack machine, also called a flow wrapper, moves products in line along a conveyor, wraps them in a tube of film, seals the back and both ends, and cuts each pack free. Because the product travels straight into the wrapper, handling stays minimal and the pack arrives airtight, hygienic and easy to stack.

Feeding

Products arrive by manual feeding, a 90-degree semi-automatic system, magazine feeding or a fully inline conveyor.

Wrapping

Film is drawn from the reel and formed into a tube around the product.

Sealing

A back seal and two end seals close the pack, using cold seal or hot seal film.

Cutting

The cutting and sealing group separates each pack and discharges it to the next stage.

ADS is a modular system that directs products from the production line into the packaging machine. Servo and asynchronous motors are matched to the product’s stickiness, softness and line width, so connected flow wrappers stay fed at high speed without interruption.

A flow pack machine, also called a horizontal flow wrapper, wraps products in a continuous tube of film, seals the back and both ends, and cuts each pack free. Products are fed in a line, so they are packed without direct handling, and the sealed pack protects them from air and moisture.

Cold seal film bonds under pressure through a special coating, without heat, which suits heat-sensitive products such as chocolate and allows the highest speeds. Hot seal film is welded by heated jaws. Our machines list both capacities; the Titan, for example, reaches 700 packs per minute cold seal and 200 hot seal.

E-motion models suit entry-level and short-run lines: MFX and RSI for smaller products, PMJ and Plus for wide products, and magazine feeding for biscuits.
